Nursing home resident kills two with wheelchair arm
Homicide investigators at the Houston Police Department in Texas are investigating the case of two deaths at Lexington Nursing and Rehabilitation (Lexington Place), a northwest Houston nursing home on 1737 North Loop near Ella on Tuesday, April 22 at around 11:30 p.m.
Seventy-seven-year-old Antonio Acosta and 51-year-old Primitivo Lopez were allegedly beaten to death by 56-year-old Guillermo Corea with a wheelchair armrest, police said.
Officials of Pinnacle Health Facilities XV LP, the company that owns Lexington Place, declined to make any initial comments about the case and said they are cooperating with the authorities regarding the matter.
Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services spokeswoman Cecilia Cavuto said they will conduct inspections in the nursing home and determine whether it complies with state and federal regulations and provides proper training to its staff to ensure they can protect the residents.
