New London Health Center under investigation for elderly laceration
Snellville, Georgia-based New London Health Center is under investigation after a 77-year-old woman was rushed to the emergency room with a three-inch laceration on her head, WXIA reported on April 17.
The woman, who was unnamed in the article, reportedly lived at the nursing home for four years, where she was regularly visited by family members. However, according to her grandson, Ryan Sheppard, she is unable to communicate, which may have allowed nursing home neglect to persist.
In addition to the head injury, doctors found a bandage that had not been changed for 10 days, severely ingrown toenails, and generally poor hygiene. When doctors inquired about the cause of the woman’s injury, the nursing home did not give a clear answer.
