Lawsuit filed against nursing home after incidents of sexual abuse
Lynda Freeman, the sister of a former nursing home patient at the Cashmere Convalescent Center, filed a lawsuit against the nursing home in relation to incidents of sexual abuse, KOMO 4 reported on June 16.
Based on findings by investigators from local news channel KOMO 4, the nursing home was found to lack protection for patients in the dementia ward. One patient in the dementia ward where Freeman’s sister lived molested and sexually abused multiple patients, including Freeman’s sister. Many of these patients were bedridden and had difficulty speaking. The case states that the nursing home staff was inexperienced and incompetent, and that knowledge of the sexual abuse was suppressed.
Freeman’s sister has since died, after suffering massive weight loss in the months following the abuse.
